What We Do

WHAT WE DO

Daughters of Cambodia empowers individuals trapped in the sex industry to break free and build new lives filled with dignity, healing, and the means to thrive.

In Phnom Penh’s red-light districts, our team conducts regular outreaches, going into sex-selling establishments and offering a route out of sex work.  We invite young girls (plus transgender sex workers) caught in sex-exploitation and sex-trafficking into a new life of freedom and healing. Through employment in our ethical social enterprises and comprehensive recovery programs we provide a foundation for sustainable change.  Unlike institutional shelters, we empower them to reintegrate into their communities and maintain strong connections with their families.  And we support their families to experience change and reduce dysfunction, through our social work services.

Education

Since our inception in 2007, we’ve helped  900  sex workers (mostly female plus a few trans) leave the sex industry and start new lives!  They are precious to us, we know each one by name, and we are very thankful to have been a catalyst for change in their lives.  The number who have returned to the sex industry is small (18%, 2024), and they are welcomed back when they are ready to return.

Our Visitor Centre in Phnom Penh invites the community to support our mission by exploring our retail and service spaces, which showcase products made by those we empower. Visitors can also participate in guided tours to see our clients at work and to learn about our impact.

As a faith-based organization, we follow Jesus Christ, and aim to convey his love and spread his message of hope and Life.  We operate an on-site church and discipleship programs, and engage in intercession on a daily basis.
